SOLOMON KEIM

ABOUT

ABOUT

Solomon Keim is an Indiana-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and entrepreneur. Originally from Tampa, Florida, Solomon was exposed to music at a young age. In high school, he was awarded the Dare to Dream Award for jazz composition and performed internationally in Britain and France. Music wasn’t all he was interested in though; Solomon also developed a passion for giving back to his community through Metropolitan Ministries and the Clearwater Jazz Holiday My Journey with jazz educational program. This paved the way for his studies at Indiana University, where he began a degree in Jazz Studies with a minor in African American & African Diaspora Studies.

At IU, Solomon has been a member of elite ensembles such as the IU Soul Revue and Brent Wallarab Jazz Ensemble, and has performed at venues ranging from bars to historic theaters. He was a Marketing officer of the Music Industry Networking Club, and has received the music faculty award and Premier young artist scholarship. Outside of class, he has received the Teach for America Ignite fellowship and also teaches on the Varsity tutors platform.

Looking ahead, Solomon is committed to enriching the communities he is a part of through promoting live music and philanthropic efforts. He has already made great strides in these areas, notably by establishing the Solomon Keim Musical Excellence Scholarship, an annual award which offers financial support to college-bound students in his home county: Pasco County, Florida. Next year Solomon will begin studies on a Masters of Arts Administration and a Masters of Public Affairs IU.
